We are part of SPE QLD. The aim of the committee is to keep professionals with generally less than 10 years of experience involved in the oil and gas industry. We achieve this through engagement with SPE student chapters at both UQ and QUT, industry professionals, and organisations. We hold events that are technical presentations, networking, and social. Our aim is also to help bridge the gap between young professionals and professionals, and students and industry.

SPE QLD supports the development of new additions to the industry through the SPE QLD Young Professional group. The SPE QLD YP team aim to be a platform for new and upcoming members of the petroleum industry to develop their technical and soft skills as well as network with their peers across the industry.
Alongside technical development, the development of soft skills is also crucial so we ensure there are a number of networking opportunities provided to our new members. We host joint networking events, partnered with firms involved with the petroleum industry as well as other industry societies. Such events provide a platform for likeminded YPs to network with their peers as well as listening to prominent speaker/s give their advice to our industry’s young professionals.
We understand that life isn’t just about networking and developing technical skills so the SPE QLD YP team aims to host a number of social events throughout the year. From formal events such as the Global game in our Backyard series to more informal events like our Annual Trivia Night, there is an abundance of opportunities for our newer members of the industry to expand their professional network in a relaxed, social setting.
In addition to providing these services to industry young professionals, SPE QLD YP also helps to develop the future leaders of the industry. The ongoing Career Guidance and Student Development (CG&SD) Program has young industry members visiting schools and universities to share their career experiences as well as discuss the opportunities available in the world of Oil and Gas.
